Serving on the Conway Planning Board for nine years, owning a small business and having children in the Conway schools gives me Ben Colbath a personal and governmental overview of the key issues important to residents in small resort towns like Conway. Conway is my hometown, I will its advocate in Concord.
Community opposition and local government couldn't stop a casino from coming to Conway. A casino lobby backed bill became law in Concord, overriding the will of the local people. Ben Colbath will bring his Conway Planning Board experience to the state house, ensuring Concord politicians and special interests don't keep Conway from making choices that reflect the will of our neighbors.
Concord politicians have no sense of how folks up north live or how their decisions affect us. I will advocate for commonsense property tax solutions like the homestead exemption and for lodging fees as previously sponsored by my Democratic running partner incumbent Conway Rep. David Paige.
My children go to the Conway public schools as did I. The teachers, administrators and school board know our students strengths and needs, but the GOP majority in the state legislature is anti-public schools. They care more about the 12,500 children getting voucher taxpayer money than they do about the more than 160,000 children in NH public schools. I will fight for our public school children.
